Hong Kong tops Asia Pacific IT pay
Hong Kong comes out top in the Asia Pacific region when it comes to paying high salaries to IT managers, new research has found.

Australia came second in the region for paying its bosses in the industry, with the two being the ninth and tenth highest payers in the world, global human resources firm Mercer revealed.

The company's survey found that Japan was the third best payer in the region, followed by South Korea and Singapore.

Overall, the region lagged behind western Europe and the North America, with countries from those two regions occupying the top eight places in the table.

Mercer's London office principal David Conroy said: "Companies in Europe and the US continue to be more imaginative in their remuneration strategies to ensure that they keep the best talent."

In other Hong Kong pay news, a survey by recruitment consultant Hudson showed that a fifth of job applicants there ask for salaries over 20 per cent higher than employers are willing to pay, Earthtimes reports.
