Air Nelson staff poised to strike The prospect of a strike by workers at Air Nelson in New Zealand has re-emerged after talks over pay with the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union (EPMU) broke down.
Strike action is due to begin at one minute past midnight on Thursday and last until Sunday.
Following this there will be a series of rolling stoppages over the next six weeks plus an overtime ban.
The EPMU called the action after failing to secure the pay rise it wanted, having called for a five per cent rise while the company had offered 3.6 per cent in each of the next two years.
John Hambleton, general manager of the airline, told the Nelson Mail it was "disappointing that the EPMU has chosen to take this action especially after Air Nelson had gone to considerable lengths to engage with the union via negotiations and mediation".
He said the offer was fair for a small airline operating 50-seat planes
