Half of white-collar workers suffer from "subpar health" and are prone to developing more serious medical conditions as they get older, according to a survey into healthcare and wellbeing carried out by the Whole Person Development Institute. The survey found that 53% of respondents might be classified as subpar - not quite sick, yet not quite healthy enough to be considered a normal happy person. In this group a crisis or external trigger could cause mental disorder in the individual. The survey found that 31.5% were unsatisfied or very unsatisfied with their lives. A further 33% were satisfied or very satisfied, leaving 35.4% neutral. Regardless of how they rated their satisfaction, there was a consistent group in each category that showed signs of stress, which the survey classified as being subpar. Psychiatrist Wong Chung-kwong said it is important to remember that just because one is not sick, it does not mean one is necessarily healthy either. This category of subpar health sufferers is especially vulnerable to the current difficult economic situation.
